Brimming with homages to classic genre films of the 1930s, Forever Love celebrates an era of innocence, elegance and indulgence. Growing up in Taiwan’s Beitou district, Hsiao-Jie is skeptical of her grandparents claims of cinematic fame and their stories of Beitou’s historic past. Describing Beitou as a once-great “Hollywood in Taiwan,” Hsiao-jie’s grandfather claims with pride, “I was the most famous scriptwriter of the time!” Meanwhile, her grandmother believes that she is Jin-yue-feng, a famous movie actress of the 30s, and the partner of Wan-bao-long, the era’s most famous actor. Hsiao-Jie does not understand why her grandmother she is stuck in the past, until one day her grandfather reveals the legendary love story that took place in this Taiwanese Hollywood.
