A pop star wannabe sees a path to fame when he is asked to join an art rock band. But his outsized ambition is at odds with his own meager talent, the defiantly avant garde group’s lack of commercial prospects and the diffidence of the band’s musical savant leader, Frank, who conceals himself with a giant fake head.
